So yes my family and I decided to pack up and get away for the weekend for my 29th birthday. (What else is new right? seems like we are always on vacation). Well this will probably be the last vacation for our family for a while 😦 Baby number two will make it a little difficult to travel, but knowing my crazy ideas he probably will be going on his first trip at 2 months old :). What can I say I have a travel addiction! Moving on, before I get stuck into this blog post I would just like to mention -If you haven’t already done so check out https://www.mydeal.com.au/blog/post/travelling-with-kids
where our family has been featured in an article noting 6 foolproof tips for traveling with kids).
This blog posts is just a little overview of our weekend in Port Douglas – where we stayed, what we did, the places we liked and how I spent my 29th birthday 🎉
We are going to Port Douglas!
The morning of my birthday we had an early flight and had to wake up at 5am to make sure we caught our flight on time. The flight was about 3 hours to Cairns and surprisingly Mateo slept for most of the flight. (He really is a pretty good child when it comes to traveling, or maybe he’s just used to it all by now ahah). When we arrived in Cairns, we hired a car and took a road trip to Port Douglas. I have never been to Port Douglas and loved the drive up along the coast. Surprisingly I didn’t get car sick as I have been since I found out I was pregnant. Mateo behaved the whole drive which was also a plus :):):)
Peppers Beach Club Port Douglas
We stayed at Peppers Beach Club in Port Douglas. The place was absolutely amazing (especially the beach pool). The moment we settled into our room, we freshened up a little and went to have some lunch. After lunch we got into our swimsuits and made our way to the amazing pool. Mateo loved it so much and we couldn’t get him out of the water. (He seriously is a water baby). As we arrived in the afternoon we only had half of the day to enjoy the beautiful warm sun and spent the rest of the day swimming in the pool and relaxing on the amazing pool lounges. Later that evening we went for a nice walk along the beach and explored Port Douglas shopping strip. It was right up my alley with super cute bohemian boutiques and cafes. (I found the Souvenier shops to be really expensive, but I guess they all are where ever you go).
Relax, dine and enjoy the sunshine!
The following morning we went and had buffet breakfast at the amazing restaurant that over looked the pool. (The view was seriously beautiful). There was so many tours and things we could have done but because our stay was very short we didn’t really get the chance to do them. (We will be going back to Port Douglas and looking at some of the tours next time). As it was more of a chill relaxing getaway we visited a beautiful small cafe called Betty’s Bohemian beach cafe – they had amazzinggg smoothie bowls. (If you ever plan on staying in Port Douglas be sure to check it out). 😁😁😁 There was also a bar/restaurant near the beach called “Port Douglas surf club bar and bistro” which had yummy fish and chips. (It also had a kids playground which was amazing and kept Mateo entertained for a while).
Last year in my 20s
Overall my birthday weekend getaway to Port Douglas was amazing!!! I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my birthday then with my 2 beautiful boys (soon to be three) at a tropical place. It was such a relaxing trip and it was a great start to my last year in my 20s. Next year the big 30! I wonder what my hubby and my two little monkeys will have up their sleeve.
